Imogen and Matthew’s spring wedding was themed around keeping things relaxed, natural, simple and elegant. Did they achieve what they set out to do? Hell yeah they did! Their May wedding day was the epitome of a laid-back, quintessential garden wedding at super cool wedding venue, Plas Dinam in Mid Wales.
If you hadn’t already guessed I’m a MASSIVE advocate for doing things your own way. Whether that’s your career, the way you dress or how you get hitched - I don’t believe you should give a flying F*%@ what others think, or succumb to whatever tradition says you’re ‘supposed’ to do. Soz! But that’s exactly why I have huge respect and admiration for Imogen who decided to have a super chilled wedding morning, all on her own. She got ready solo and I arrived just in time to capture her getting into her stunning bridal separates, along with the help of her mum and sister.

Relaxed Outdoor Wedding Photography in Mid Wales
Plas Dinam, a country house in Mid Wales is an awesome wedding venue which manages to blend historic charm and industrial cool perfectly. I know - it shouldn’t work, but trust me, it really does! Imogen and Matthew chose to host their wedding ceremony outside, within the gardens, with the rolling Welsh hills as the backdrop. Local sustainable wedding florist, Luna Bloom, provided the flowers; beautifully wild bridal bouquets, lush little bud vases on the tables and two mega urns bursting with homegrown British flowers lining the aisle and perfectly framing the epic view beyond.

Their ceremony was looked after by celebrant queen, Berni B; top quality humanist celebrant and owner of the most gorgeous shocking pink hair! I knew we’d get on as soon as I saw her hair colour, but she really is one of the best. Their ceremony was equal parts joyous and emotional, Berni had everyone laughing and crying at various points throughout the proceedings!
The May weather was too good not to make the most of, so after the ceremony everyone hung out in the gardens at Plas Dinam for drinks, chats and laughs on the lawn before making their way to the Stables for the super relaxed sharing wedding breakfast.
A truly majestic space, their Stables offers an epic blank canvas for all kinds of wedding vibes. Bathed, no not bathed, drenched in natural light from the entirely glass roof couples can make everlasting memories here, from feasting with friends during the wedding breakfast to throwing some hilarious shapes on the dance floor once the sun goes down. It’s versatile, rustic and utterly unique, and Imogen and Matthew’s reception felt right at home here.

I managed to whisk them away for some gorgeous golden hour portraits in between all of the festivities which is one of my fave things to do on a dreamy wedding day such as theirs. Two brilliant people, in love, on one of (if not the) best day of their lives, possibly a little bit tipsy too and feeling more comfortable in front of the camera than ever… this late-in-the-day mini photoshoot is often where the magic happens! And when there are two gorgeous little dogs to hang out with too, well, it marks the perfect end to a pretty awesome day!

The couples words;
“Originally we weren’t going to have a photographer at our wedding, but we’re so glad we managed to secure Vix’s services at the (almost) last minute. As someone who isn’t a fan of having their photo taken, Vix made me feel completely comfortable and at ease, which made life a lot easier! We received the photos back several weeks ago and have only just got around to viewing them, and we’re so, so, so happy with them! Vix captured the day perfectly and has given us many hundreds of happy memories to look back on!”
