Classic, Elegant Wedding at Shropshire Country House, Delbury Hall

Issy and Steve’s wedding at country house venue Delbury Hall in Shropshire was the epitome of a traditional, elegant wedding celebration. Wanting a classic, English summer wedding, the day featured a goooorgeous church ceremony and a relaxed courtyard drinks reception, followed by a more formal wedding breakfast inside The Coach House, Delbury’s beautiful double height ceilinged events space. I would describe the overall vibe as relaxed, intimate and just really happy and lovely! It was traditional but certainly not stuffy or formal, the perfect reflection of them as a couple.

I was with them from the wedding morning right through to the spinning and snogging on the dance floor! The day started at Issy’s parents’ home; a beautiful old school house in Bridgnorth, and the location of the girls’ wedding prep featuring lots of laughter and music! Issy and her best women got ready in the family’s AirBnb, while her dad rustled up bacon butties for all before giving his pride and joy (the Jag!) one last polish before escorting the beautiful bride to the church.

The church service was super lovely and they were bathed in the most beaut natural light the whole time - a Shropshire wedding photographer’s dream! It was here that Issy’s nan delivered an incredibly heartfelt reading which brought all the feels to an already loved-up day.

We had a brilliant confetti tunnel outside the church - an excessive amount of dried petals were provided by the bride and it was PERFECT. Hot tip: always buy more confetti than you think you might need, believe me…you can never have too much!! They then jumped back into the Jag and the groom drove them to Delbury for the next part of their wedding celebrations. I absolutely LOVE that they travelled there together, alone. Everyone says that their wedding day goes by so quickly because it really does but if you can purposefully plan in a couple of moments throughout the day where you can just be together and soak it all in then DO IT - you’re marrying your favourite person after all so why not carve out some alone time on one of the most mega days of your life?! There you have it, another top tip for you - cor, I’m full of ‘em today!

Issy and Steve’s reception at Delbury Hall was classic, elegant wedding perfection. Flowing drinks and endless canapés, followed by some fun group shots and the humorous but slightly awks best man’s speech (it featured a blow up doll, yep)!

Soon enough it was time for one of my fave times of the day, couples’ portraits! Obvs I snap my couples all day long but where possible, I will nearly always leave a longer couple session until after the meal, when the light is warm, soft and flattering and my couples have eased into the day a little. It’s basically when the MAGIC really happens and Issy and Steve didn’t disappoint - she is an absolute goddess and they are a belter of a couple!

LUSH WORDS FROM THE COUPLE THEMSELVES

“We hired Vix for our wedding in June. From the first encounter over Zoom (remember that), it’s been an absolute pleasure!

Vix is very friendly and approachable and has such enthusiasm for what she does that it’s infectious! The pre-shoot was very helpful as it reassured us of the quality of the photos and how she handles people 😂

On the day, she was brilliant. Vix commanded the guests in a jovial way that made them aware of what they needed to do, but not forced into it! She was that good, she even got a booking for another couple!

Choosing the right photographer can be tricky, Vix will make your decision very easy!”
